Lesbian Conference
A space of rights, visibility, and opportunities
The Lesbian Conference is a unique international and national space for discussing the rights, visibility, safety, and empowerment of lesbian, bisexual, and queer women, as well as trans* women.
Insight NGO is one of the key organizations consistently advocating for the lesbian movement in Ukraine, co-organizing and partnering on large-scale conferences that bring together activists, researchers, human rights defenders, artists, and community members from all over the world.
Goals and objectives of the conference
Community visibility and voice
A safe platform where lesbians and LBTQ+ women can speak openly about their needs, overcoming double discrimination — on the grounds of sex/gender and sexual orientation.
Advocacy and protection of rights
Legislative initiatives, protection from domestic and gender-based violence, the rights of same-sex families, and the protection of motherhood.
Networking and solidarity
Connections between Ukrainian activists and the international movement, sharing experience and mutual support amid today’s challenges and the war.
Research and culture
The history of queer feminism, visual art, and promoting knowledge about lesbians’ contribution to society.

- Legal and social challenges: registered partnerships, marriage equality, and child custody in same-sex families.
- Safety and mental health: countering lesbophobia and burnout, and supporting mental health in times of crisis and war.
- LBTQ+ women in the military and volunteering: the experiences and rights of women service members, veterans, and volunteers.
- International advocacy: engaging with the European Lesbian Conference (EL*C) and other international networks to amplify the voice of Ukrainian LBTQ+ women on the world stage.
- Cultural and educational projects: visibility in the media, queer literature, art, and creating safe cultural spaces.
