All of Insight NGO’s advocacy and educational initiatives are grounded in an evidence-based approach, real data, and in-depth analysis. We believe that systemic change in the country is only possible when public debate and legislative initiatives are backed by scientifically sound facts.

Since the beginning of our work, we have conducted comprehensive research on the situation of the LGBTQI+ community in Ukraine, monitored human rights violations, assessed the effectiveness of law enforcement practice, and developed analytical documents.

Documenting and systematically analyzing violations of LGBTQI+ people’s rights, hate speech, and discrimination in the workplace, in healthcare settings, and in everyday life.

Research on the needs and situation of trans people

Studying access to quality healthcare (including HRT) and the barriers to legal gender recognition, as well as assessing the socio-economic situation of transgender and non-binary people in Ukraine.

LGBTQI+ rights during war and martial law

Analyzing the specific challenges community members face during the full-scale invasion.

Legal analysis

Preparing alternative (shadow) reports for international institutions on Ukraine’s compliance with its international obligations in the areas of human rights and anti-discrimination.

Assessing medical and psychological needs

Researching mental health in the community, healthcare professionals’ awareness of SOGI issues, and the barriers to accessing psychotherapeutic and psychiatric care.
