FEM TALKS in Kyiv!

“A FEMINIST VIBE”

We are closing the year with a great feminist discussion in the popular TED Talks format, in which three charismatic activists and feminists will share their experience of conscious feminism!

Our views on some things may differ. We meet different situations in life and draw different conclusions from them. Yet there is something that unites us all — we all want women in Ukraine to be protected from violence and to have rights equal to men’s. And we are ready to share our experience with one another.

The TED talks:
  • Olena Shevchenko (human rights defender, chair of Insight NGO, head of the Women’s March civic initiative) on “Domestic violence is not a family matter.”
  • Emma Antoniuk (correspondent for the Vikna-Novyny program on STB) on “Tell your inner plastic surgeon to be quiet.”
  • Mykhailyna Skoryk-Shkarivska (member of the Irpin City Council, head of the Holos faction) on “How a woman can survive in local politics without being the mayor.”

We will talk and argue about the stereotypes about domestic violence that prevail in society, about lookism and objectification that ruin women’s lives, and about what it is like to be a woman in politics today.

The discussion will be moderated by Oleksandra Melnyk — civic activist and project manager at CEDEM.

The event will be held offline with a live broadcast on our Facebook page. To join us offline, please fill out the REGISTRATION FORM.
